Education at the Heart of History 05. November kadi

Hiiumaa Vocational School was established in 1977 as agricultural training centre on the island Hiiumaa, Estonia.

For 40 years HVS has provided initial and further vocational training, complementary training and re-qualification programs for all age groups. However, our students are mostly grown-ups, the average age is 36 years.

The main building of the school is 250 years old baroque manor - built in 1755-1772, surrounded by a beautiful park from 18th century and a garden for practical studies. HVS is the member of the Association of Estonian Manor Schools.

In 2020/2021 we teach:

  • Horticulture: florist, landscape gardener, urban gardener
  • Building and civil engineering: log house builder
  • Transport services: small-craft harbour specialist, bus driver, truck driver

HVS offers a variety of training courses: sustainable agriculture, animal health care, tourism, services, labour welfare (safety), computer skills, restoration etc.

There are 120-250 students in the school every year (including participants of complementary training), 60% of them come from the mainland Estonia.

Work placement at companies has an important role in providing high quality training. Every year our students participate in work placement at companies in Estonia or abroad. We also host students from our European partner schools and vocational specialists from the world of work.

If you are interested in:

  • traineeship in our school under the Erasmus+ mobility programme,
  • providing apprenticeship for our students at your company,
  • sharing your knowledge and skills with our students;
  • any other cooperation of vocational training,

feel free to contact: Kadi Mustasaar, kadi.mustasaar@hak.edu.ee, +372 5280676

If you are interested in gaining vocational education at our school outside the Erasmus+ programme funding, then you need the residence permit to study. Please read further HERE
